The Online Marketer's Survival Guide

Preface:

I'm working on a few Online marketing articles at present. I thought it would be
appropriate to address some of the common mistakes made by new marketers first. I'd also
like new marketers "newbies" to understand I made most of these mistakes when I first
started. I'm not "better" than newbies... just more experienced. I'm trying to prevent new
marketers from having to learn the hard way, wasting their time, money, and life!

Your First Online Marketing Experience:

You find a company with a product, or service you see great earning potential with. You click
on a link, get all signed-up and head immediately to the promotional materials page. You jot
down your referral ID, select Banners, Splash Pages, and some prewritten Text Ads. You can
hardly contain your excitement, while sending out Ads to Safelists and Ad Exchanges. You can
invision the ATM firing out a stack of fresh crisp Bills.

You check your email for any "You Have a New Member" notices, but there aren't any! You
Login to your "Back-Office" and look for your sponsored statistics, but the counter is still on
zero. What happened, what did I do wrong? Surely dozens, if not hundreds of people have seen
my Ads by now! You advertise more, you join more Safelists, you even rewrite some of the Text
Ads. Still nobody signs-up. You check the Leader Board, and see other members signing-up the
kind of numbers you were expecting. Sound familiar?

What is Happening:

Well, there are actually a couple of things taking place at the same time that are working
against you. First, not everyone who sees your Ad will be as excited about the opportunity as
you were. Some will decide they're not interested at all, others will decide to look at your
Ad again later for further consideration. Its a well documented fact, it usually takes 4 to 7
exposures to your Ad or company before a prospect will make the final decision to join or not.

This is where you begin to lose the prospect:

The prospect wanted to return later to look at your Ad, but they can't find it now! It may be
buried in a mountain of email messages. They're not sure of the Ad Title, or they may have
seen your Ad on a Rotator Site. The odds of the prospect spotting your Ad now are very poor.
Nobody is going to take the time to try and track your Ad down. You just suffered an injury;
the prospect wanted to look at your Ad again, but couldn't find it. Now to add insult to your
injury.. There's a good chance the prospect will remember the company name, or name of the
product or service. A quick Google search, and voila! The prospect easily finds the company
you were advertising, and they join or buy. You did all the work, but there's no commission
waiting for you.

Let's Take A Closer Look at Your Advertising Materials:

The company provided you with lots of advertising material with their name prominently
displayed in big bold letters. Their name is on the Banners, Splash Pages, and Text Ads. You
need to realize: whenever you use company promotional materials; you're actually functioning as
an advertising volunteer. Unless a prospect spontaneously joins when they first see your Ad;
you will rarely be credited with any commissions. Please stop wasting your valuable time,
money, and life! You're doing the work, you deserve to be paid.

The Good News:

There are effective solutions available to start being rewarded for your efforts.

The Better News:

These solutions are all free, or have a 30 day free trial!

(all links open in a new window or tab)

(1) Track the results of your Ads using this free service: bitly

With bitly, you can take a long and obvious affiliate link such as:

http://www.whatevercompanyyouarewith.com/?ref=bradalguire, and turn it into:

http://bit.ly/9LaNVS
Tracking your advertsing campaign is very important, as you need to know which advertising
sources are getting you good results. Also you'll want to do some "split-testing" of your ads.
Split-testing" is when you experiment and tweak your ads by comparing the results to your
original ad. Just changing a couple words in the Heading may have a significant change in the
amount of people who open your ad. Split-testing helps you determine what works, and what does not.

(2) Get a free 30 day trial of TrafficWave (professional Quality Autoresponder). Well established
company (10 year history). Most affordable of the 3 major AutoResponders at 18 dollars per month.
I have used "Aweber", and "GetResponse". All 3 company's Autoresponders work very well,
"TrafficWave" is easily the best value. No AutoResponder equals no Marketing List or customer
base, no List equals no income. Consider An Autoresponder to be "mandatory equipment" for
generating online income. When a viewer of one of your ads fills-out an autoresponder form; they're
expressing interest in your product or service. They are requesting more information. This is your
opportunity to fulfill their request, and begin to build a rapport and trusting relationship with
the potential buyer or partner. TrafficWave AutoResponder Trial

(3) Make your own Banners with this easy to use free online service: LiveBannerMaker.com
or: BannerSketch.com

(4) Put your Full Name and business contact details in all your text Ads. Include your website name
and Skype details as well. Do not include your email address or you can expect to be spammed.

Note: These tips will at least get you started in the right direction. Other articles I'm working on
will address Traffic (Quality vs. Quantity), contacting your list members with AutoResponder messages,
and evaluating a business opportunity (to name a few!)

Thank You very much for your time. I sincerely hope you find this article beneficial to your future.
